Cycle coaching is for everyone. But different people want different things from a coach. Understanding the different aspects of cycle coaching will allow you to choose what is right for you.

Cycle skills coaching

Cycle skills coaching focuses on a rider’s bike handling skills. Active Cycle Coaching offers cycle skills coaching for adults and children in Edinburgh and the surrounding area.

Cycle Skills Coaching for AdultsĀ 

I offer four different group coaching sessions for adults:

  • If you do not feel confident on your bike then my novice skills coaching can help you.
  • If you are looking to improve your road bike handling so that you can climb, descend and corner more effectively then my intermediate skills coaching will help you develop these skills.
  • If you are looking to develop your group road biking skills in order to ride confidently in a bunch, including riding in a ‘chain gang’ then my group cycling skills coaching is for you.
  • Race skills coaching for those planning to race in time trials, road races and criteriums is coming soon.

Cycle Skills Coaching for Children

Riding a bike is fantastic fun. For children, bikes are all about freedom and speed. But as parents we seem to spend all our time telling children to slow down and mind the cars. Active Cycle Coaching’s Kid’s Clubs are full of fun. All the clubs are held in safe, traffic-free environments. At the clubs, children develop their bike handling skills with games and activities, and discover the real freedom of riding a bike well.

As an experienced Primary School teacher, I can also offer children’s coaching to schools during the school day or as an after school club.

Road Safety Skills Coaching

Cycling amongst the traffic can feel intimidating. My Road Safety Skills Coaching teaches you where to position yourself on the road and how to handle junctions, roundabouts and other road features. This will give you the confidence you need to ensure you are safe on the roads.

Guided Rides

If you want to ride your bike but don’t know where to go, Active Cycle Coaching can help. I offer individual and group led rides from five to fifty miles. I also run free ‘Breeze’ cycle rides for women.

Fitness Coaching

Fitness coaching involves a coach working one-to-one with an athlete to develop a training plan which will help them to achieve their individual cycling aims. This could be to improve your fitness generally, to ride a challenge ride or sportive, or to compete in bike races.

Active Cycle Coaching does not offer individual coaching plans at the moment, although advice on training approaches can be offered as part of cycle skills training if clients are looking for such advice.
